Valpo and Toledo Battle to 1-1 Tie
Friday, September 10, 2004
Kelly Faulkner's (Plymouth, Minn./Maple Grove H.S.) first goal of the season came with 2:54 remaining in regulation to help Valparaiso forge a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Toledo on Friday evening in Toledo, Ohio.

Faulkner headed home a Lindsay Holley (Waldorf, Md./Westlake H.S.) free kick from near the corner to end a three-match losing streak to the Rockets. For Holley, it was her third assist of the season and 11th of her career, tying her with Jennifer Grupe (1998-2001) for first all-time.

Toledo scored just 4:45 into the second half as Kelly Langenbeck tallied her second of the season on an unassisted goal.

Toledo (2-1-1) outshot Valpo 16-12 for the match, but the Crusaders won six corner kicks to the Rockets three. Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made four stops in goal for the Brown and Gold while Jen Whipple made the same number for the Rockets.

Valparaiso (1-3-1) will take a week off before returning to action at Eastgate Field next Friday in a 2 p.m. match against Indiana State. The contest begins a three-match homestand for the Crusaders.
