A pair of second half goals propelled Valparaiso to a 2-0 victory over IUPUI on Friday evening in Indianapolis, Ind. and kept the Crusaders perfect in the Mid-Continent Conference.

Emily King (Colona, Ill./United Township H.S.) put the Crusaders on the board in the 56th minute heading home a corner kick off of the foot of Dana McGlone (Littleton, Colo./Heritage H.S.). For King, it was her 12th point of the season, moving her into third place on Valpo's career list with 37 over the last four years.

The freshman duo of Lori Johnson (Sachse, Texas/Naaman Forest H.S.) and Kendall Brown (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel H.S.) combined for the insurance goal at the 64:46 mark. Johnson took a one touch pass from Brown and beat Jessie Mann from 15 yards out for her sixth tally of the season. For Brown, it was point number 19 on the season, moving her into third place on Valpo's single season list.

IUPUI (2-8-2, 0-2-1 Mid-Con) outshot Valpo 13-11 for the match. Mann made three saves for the Jaguars in goal while Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made two stops for the Crusaders.

For Murray, it was her fourth shutout of the season and tenth of her career.

Valparaiso (8-5-1, 4-0) is off to its first 4-0 start in Mid-Con play in school history. The eight wins on the season tie for the second most in the program's history in a single season, and the four conference wins equal the most ever.
