Valpo Falls to Loyola in Non-Conference Action
Sunday, October 9, 2005
Valparaiso saw its three-match unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders went on the road and dropped a 2-0 decision to Loyola (Ill.) in Chicago.

The Ramblers struck first midway through the first half as Amy Lomas notched her third tally of the season from just three yards out past Crusader netminder Danielle Guerra (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.).

Loyola added an insurance goal at the 53:11 mark as Pam Staton took a pass from Jamie Wasielewski and scored from 15 yards out to conclude the day's scoring.

Valpo was outshot 16-12 on the afternoon, including an 11-7 margin on frame. Guerra made a season-high nine saves in goal for the Brown and Gold while Emily Peick made seven stops in recording the shutout for Loyola (5-5-1).

The Crusaders, as they have done all season, held an 8-2 edge on corner kicks, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Valparaiso (7-5-1) will return to action on Friday evening when the Crusaders head to Indianapolis, Ind. for a Mid-Continent Conference battle at IUPUI. Kickoff against the Jaguars is set for 7 p.m.
