Thomas Named Third Team Academic All-America Selection

            Valparaiso University’s Jackie Thomas (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest H.S.) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Third Team as voted upon by CoSIDA.

            Thomas, a junior defender, led the Crusaders in scoring with four goals and nine total points.  All four of her goals were match-winners this season for the Crusaders, tying the school record.

            A Second Team All-Horizon League selection, Thomas has a 3.85 cumulative grade point average in public relations and sports management.  She helped the Crusaders set a new school mark with eight shutouts this season, while posting a team 0.99 goals against average.  Thomas was also a First Team Academic All-District V selection.

            To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve.  District V consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario, and Manitoba.
