Sunday, October 27, 2002
The Valparaiso women's soccer team dropped its fourth match in its last five outings on Sunday afternoon, falling to Butler 3-0 at Eastgate Field.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard just 4:17 into the match as Krista Rott converted a penalty kick after getting hauled down at the top of the penalty area.

Maura Murphy made it 2-0 Butler at the 30:23 mark as she took a long pass from Kristen Aaltonen and beat Danielle Guerra (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) from about 25 yards out.

Rott then added her second tally of the match at the 58:00 mark as she headed home a Meredith Buemi cross to conclude the scoring.

The Crusaders were not without chances though, as the Bulldogs just outshot Valpo 12-10 for the match. Guerra made three saves between the pipes for the Brown and Gold, while Katie Sanders pushed aside three Valpo shots.

Each team committed ten fouls in the contest, while Butler (12-4) held a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Valpo (5-10-1) will return to action on Friday evening at Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
