Allison Swanson's (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) first collegiate goal kept Valparaiso unbeaten in the Mid-Continent Conference following a 1-0 victory over Southern Utah on Friday afternoon at Eastgate Field.

Swanson banged home an Emily King (Colona, Ill./United Township H.S.) rebound at 17:30 of the first half for the lone goal of the match.

The Crusaders controlled the first half, outshooting the Thunderbirds 9-2 and not allowing a shot on goal. In the second half, Southern Utah (2-13, 1-2 Mid-Con) outshot Valpo 10-3, but most were from well outside the penalty area.

Valparaiso remains unbeaten in the Mid-Con (3-0) and improves to 4-6-1 overall. The Crusaders will host Oral Roberts on Sunday afternoon in a 1 p.m. match at Eastgate Field, with the winner owning at least a share of the conference title.
