Emily King (Colona, Ill./United Township H.S.) had a goal and two assists while Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) tied Valparaiso's career shutout record as they led the Crusaders to a 3-0 victory over Indiana State on Sunday afternoon at Eastgate Field.

For Murray, the shutout was her first of the season and seventh of her career, tying Amy Cavanaugh's mark set from 1996-1999. The sophomore made three saves in the victory.

King's pass to Brittany Derksen (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak H.S.) in the box at 11:59 allowed the sophomore to score from five yards out and give the Brown and Gold the early lead.

Just 1:53 later, King scored herself, heading home a pass from Courtney Rahrig (Centennial, Colo./J.K. Mullen H.S.) to put Valpo in front 2-0 less than 14 minutes into the match.

Valpo held a 10-5 shot advantage at intermission along with the two goal lead.

King helped on the Crusaders' insurance goal, feeding a pass through the box to Lorna Torrez (Dallas Center, Iowa/Dallas Center-Grimes H.S.) who finished with her first goal of the season.

Valpo finished the match with an 18-7 advantage in shots, including an 8-3 edge on goal. Rachel Rudzis made five saves for Indiana State (1-3).

Valparaiso (3-1) will head to Toledo for a 4 p.m. CDT match on Friday afternoon against the Rockets.
