Valpo Registers Second Straight Draw

Valparaiso concluded its weekend trip to Shreveport, La. with a 0-0 double-overtime draw against McNeese State on Sunday morning in a neutral site non-conference match.

The Cowgirls outshot Valpo 8-2 in the opening half, but were unable to find the back of the goal. For the match, McNeese State held a 15-12 advantage on shots, including a 6-4 edge on goal. However, Valpo had ten corner kick opportunities to just five for the Cowgirls.

Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made six saves to earn the shutout for the Brown and Gold while Labrie Pritzen made three stops for McNeese State (6-5-1). For Murray it was her third shutout of the season.

Valpo (11-3-2) will return to the field on Friday afternoon as the Crusaders host IUPUI in a key Mid-Continent Conference match. Kickoff at Eastgate Field is set for 3 p.m., with the match being carried live on WVUR (95.1-FM, Valparaiso) and online at www.valpo.edu/athletics.
