In advance of the program's celebration of its 25th Anniversary on Saturday night against UNI, the Valparaiso University women's soccer program unveiled its starting XI from its 25th Anniversary team on Saturday morning.
Goalkeeper
Kristen Manski, 2013 - Second Team All-League as a senior; program's all-time leader in minutes played in goal, save percentage (.817) and shutouts (30); ranks second in GAA (0.85)
Defenders
Kelly Evans, 1999 - Stalwart in the back for early Crusader teams; was an Academic All Mid-Con honoree
Jackie Thomas, 2008 - Three-time First Team All-Conference selection and a Third Team Academic All-American as a senior; started 76 matches over her four seasons
Liberty Ziegahn, 2006 - Earned Second Team All-Conference honors as a freshman; helped Valpo capture first Mid-Con regular season and tournament titles and advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2005
Janine Lytle, 2012 - A Second Team All-League choice as a sophomore; started 77 matches for the Crusaders in her career
Midfielders
Rita Craven, 2015 - Horizon League Player of the Year and a Third Team All-American as a junior in 2014; selected as a First Team Academic All-American as a senior
Jennifer Grupe, 2001 - Second Team All-Conference as a senior; started 77 matches over her four years and was a two-year team captain
Emily King, 2005 - A four-time All-Conference honoree, including two times a First Team selection; Mid-Con Tournament MVP in 2005 as the Crusaders claimed the Mid-Con title; set program single-season record for points (27) and tied record for goals (11) as a senior
Forwards
April Cronin, 2016 - Three-time First Team All-Horizon League choice; named Tournament MVP in 2014 after scoring match-winning goal in championship match; ranks second in program history with 25 goals and 61 points
Luisa Desario, 2012 - Two-time First Team All-Horizon League selection; closed career fifth in program history with 18 goals and 45 points
Lori Moore, 2002 - Valpo's all-time leader in goals (35) and points (80); earned First Team All Mid-Con honors in three of her four seasons and was the conference's Freshman of the Year in 1999; set program's single-season goals record in 2000 with 11
