Pair of Crusaders Earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Recognition

Two Valparaiso University women’s soccer players received Scholar-Athlete recognition as the Missouri Valley Conference announced its women’s soccer Scholar-Athlete Teams on Wednesday. Both junior Cory Griffith (Lemont, Ill./Providence Catholic) and senior Grace Rogers (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) were First Team Scholar-Athlete selections.

Griffith picks up the First Team Scholar-Athlete honor after a junior campaign in which she tied program records for goals (11) and match-winning goals (5) in a single season. A First Team All-MVC selection as well, the junior tied for the MVC lead in match-winners, ranked third in goals scored and finished fourth in points (25). In the classroom, Griffith carries a 3.78 cumulative GPA as a marketing major.

Rogers earns her First Team Scholar-Athlete accolade after concluding her Crusader career by setting program records for single-season assists (7) and career assists (15). She started 18 of 19 matches on the back line, finishing third in The Valley in assists. Rogers carries a perfect 4.00 GPA as an actuarial science and business analytics double major. This marks the second straight year Rogers has earned recognition for her work both on the field and in the classroom, as she was a member of the Horizon League Academic All-League squad last season.
