Griffith Earns Third Team All-Region Honor

Valparaiso University junior forward Cory Griffith (Lemont, Ill./Providence Catholic) has been named a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Midwest Region honoree following her stellar 2017 season for the Crusaders.

A First Team All-MVC selection, Griffith tied Valpo’s single-season record with 11 goals scored, good for third in the conference. Five of her goals were of the match-winning variety to tie her own program record and share the conference lead. She also tallied a team-best 25 points – fourth in the conference and second-most in a single season in program history. Griffith ended the season strong, scoring six goals in the Crusaders’ final six matches of the year.

Griffith was one of six Missouri Valley Conference players to earn All-Midwest Region honors, as the conference placed one player on the Second Team and five on the Third Team. She is the first Crusader to earn All-Region accolades from United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) since Rita Craven and April Cronin both received Third Team All-Great Lakes Region recognition in 2015.
