Crusader Women Compete at Indiana Intercollegiates

The Valparaiso women's swim team finished sixth at the Indiana Intercollegiates on Saturday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Crusaders finished with 97.5 points, while Purdue won the meet with 705.5. Ball State was second (561.5), followed by Indianapolis (281), Butler (120.5), IUPUI (102), and the Crusaders.

Ashley Seale (Maryville, Tenn./Maryville H.S.) led the Crusaders with a third place finish in the 100 butterfly. Her time of 1:00.24 was the third fastest in school history. Seale also finished 12th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.31.

Valpo also had three 13th place finishers. Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) had a time of 56.96 seconds in the 100 freestyle, while Lauren Bambach (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman H.S.) finished in the same place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.20. Maggie Kroemer (Brown Deer, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran H.S.) also finished 13th in the 500 free with a time of 5:29.82.

The Crusaders will retake to the pool next Friday and Saturday at the Eastern Illinois Invitational.
