Valpo Women 7th at Indiana Intercollegiates

Valparaiso women's swimming and diving team finished in 7th place at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Crusaders tallied 74 points in the meet, while Purdue won the competition with 736.5 points.

Britt Nelson (Cortland, N.Y./Homer H.S.) and Allison Clark (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood H.S.) each turned in Valpo's highest finish of the day, an 11th place effort. Nelson did so in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:19.74, while Clark, a freshman, was 11th in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:11.25.

Ashley Seale (Maryville, Tenn./Maryville H.S.) earned a 12th place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.85, while Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) was the Crusaders only other top-15 finisher, doing so in the 50 free. She placed 15th in a time of 26.00 seconds.

Valparaiso will dive back into the pool next weekend when the Brown and Gold travel to Charleston, Ill for the Eastern Illinois Invitational. The two-day meet will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.
