Crusaders Fall 129-101 at IUPUI on Tuesday

Maggie Kroemer and Amanda Gregory each won a pair of events, but it was not enough as IUPUI defeated Valparaiso 129-101 on Tuesday afternoon in Indianapolis, Ind.

Kroemer took home top honors in both the 1000 freestyle and the 500 free. Her time of 11:11.10 in the 1000 was nearly ten seconds in front of her nearest competitor, while she posted a five-second victory in the 500 with a mark of 5:33.00.

Gregory was victorious in both the 200 free and the 100 free. With a time of 2:02.69 in the 200 free, she cruised to a two-and-a-half second victory in the race. She registered the 100 win with a time of 56.35 seconds.

Leah Schneider also recorded a victory for the Brown and Gold on the afternoon. Her time of 2:17.75 in the 200 individual medley bettered her nearest competitor's, teammate Lauren Bambach, time of 2:20.04 by more than two seconds. Schneider also finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.61, a second off of the pace.

Bambach also earned a second place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.69.

Andi Ticknor registered a pair of runner-up finishes for the Crusaders as well. Her score of 194.18 on the one-meter board and 169.95 on the three-meter helped Valpo score in both diving events.

Ashley Seale earned Valpo's other second place finish on the afternoon, turning in a time of 1:12.82 in the 100 breaststroke.

Valpo (2-2) will return to the pool on New Year's Eve for the Ed Kennedy Relays in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
