Five Crusaders Earn All Mid-Con Honors

Valparaiso University had five swimmers named to the Mid-Continent Conference Second Team following the league championship meet which was held this past weekend.

Allison Clark (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood H.S.), Amanda Gregory (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.), Britt Nelson (Cortland, N.Y./Homer H.S.), Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.), and Daniella Trombatore (Redding, Calif./Shasta H.S.) all received recognition for their roles this weekend.

Clark finished second in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:41.07. She also turned in a fourth place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.79) and finished fifth in the 200 IM (2:14.04).

Gregory was seventh in the 200 free (2:00.38) and 50 free (25.40). She also earned a seventh place effort in the 100 free (55.11).

Nelson set a new school record in the 1650 free with a time of 17:54.49 to place third overall. The junior also finished second in the 500 free (5:12.48), while finishing sixth in the 200 free (1:58.91).

Schneider placed fourth in the 200 butterfly with her time of 2:14.03, while earning a third place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 59.53 seconds, just .12 seconds out of second. The junior also placed fourth in the 100 free, touching the wall in 53.84 seconds.

Trombatore was tenth in the 200 free (2:02.10), while also joining Nelson, Gregory, and Schneider on the school record-setting 800 free relay. The team finished second with a time of 7:54.61.

Gregory, Nelson, Clark, and Schneider also all teamed for a runner-up finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:39.68.
