Valpo Ends Dual Season with Split

Valparaiso concluded its dual meet season with a split on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders defeated Butler 132-51 but fell to Saint Louis 111-77 in Indianapolis.

Ashley Seale (Maryville, Tenn./Maryville H.S.) recorded the lone event win on the afternoon as she won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.09, a season's best mark in the event.

Maggie Kroemer (Brown Deer, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran H.S.) earned a runner-up finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:02.84. Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) also finished second for the Crusaders in the 200 free, touching the wall in 2:01.99.

Rachel Korellis (Champaign, Ill./Centennial H.S.) placed second in the 50 free with a time of 26.22 seconds, while Amanda Gregory (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) was the runner-up in 100 free (56.10). Lauren Bambach (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman H.S.) was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.66.

Valparaiso finished the dual meet season with a 3-7 mark. The Crusaders will return to the pool Thursday, February 17 through Saturday, February 19 for their final competition of the year as they travel to Indianapolis for the House of Champions meet. Thursday's competition will begin with preliminary heats at 9 a.m. CST with the first night's finals beginning at 5 p.m.
