Valpo Women Fall to IUPUI and Saint Louis

Valparaiso’s women’s swim team dove back in the pool on Friday evening, only to drop a double dual meet with IUPUI and Saint Louis at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.  The Crusaders fell to the host Jaguars 67.5-37.5 while losing 82-29 against the Billikens.

Natalie Jarrett (Lebanon, Ind./Western Boone H.S.) posted a win for the Crusaders in the 200 individual medley, cruising to a four second triumph.  She turned in a time of 2:13. 27, the third fastest time in school history.  Teammate Shaunna Dangremond (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino H.S.) also finished third in the event with a mark of 2:19.21.  Jarrett also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.27.

Amy Andracki (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect H.S.) added a victory in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.61, earning a 0.34 second win.  Sarah Robertson (Crawfordsville, Ind./Crawfordsville H.S.) finished third in the event for the Brown and Gold as well with a time of 1:13.44, a season’s best.  Katrina Peters (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central H.S.) also had a season’s best in the 100 breast with her time of 1:14.61.

Andrea Bretl (Wauwatosa, Wis./West H.S.) earned a season’s best time of 11:18.05 for the Crusaders in the 1000 freestyle, bettering her previous top mark by more than 10 seconds while Stephanie Ferschl (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago H.S.) had a season’s best in the 200 free with a time of 2:04.92.

Justine Barnes (Rochester Hills, Mich./Adams H.S.) posted a season’s top time of 27.25 for the Brown and Gold in the 50 free.  Robertson added a time of 1:03.47, a season’s best, in the 100 butterfly.

Alizabeth Taubert (Bloomington, Ill./University H.S.) also turned in a top time for the year with her mark of 59.31 seconds in the 100 free.

Valpo closed the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle relay.  Dangremond, Taubert, Bretl, and Brittany Bencur (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) posted a time of 1:47.79.

Valparaiso (1-9) will return home to the Athletics-Recreation Center pool on Saturday for a dual meet against UIC.  The first event begins at 1 p.m.
