Valparaiso University senior swimmer Casey Main (Fairview, Ohio/Fairview) has been named as a recipient of the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award for the 2018-19 Winter season. In addition, Main earned a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
Main was among 10 student-athletes from around the MVC to be honored with the Good Neighbor Award, which was announced Wednesday morning. In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service.
Main volunteers at many different places in the Valpo area. Most notably, she spends time in the “Invent it Build it” initiative started by the Society of Women Engineers. The initiative helps to teach girls how to start and complete engineering projects to foster a love for the topic of engineering.
Main is also the co-president of the Council for Engineering Inclusion and also spends time as a volunteer at Valparaiso Nazarene Church, as well as many other organizations.
As a student, Main is just as impressive. She has earned a 3.883 cumulative GPA and has made the Dean’s List for six semesters. She is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honors society on campus.
