Valparaiso's women's swimming and diving team opened its season with a fourth place finish on Friday evening at the Dennis Stark Relays held in Notre Dame, Ind.

The host Fighting Irish won the meet with 257 points, followed by Illinois State with 187 points and Wisconsin-Milwaukee with 136 points. The Crusaders tallied 108 points, with St. Mary's scoring 88 points for fifth place and Marquette rounding out the field with 56 points.

The Brown and Gold finished in fourth place in every relay in the meet with the exception of the 800 freestyle relay, which finished in fifth place.

The Crusaders will return to action on October 24 when they open their dual meet schedule at the Athletics-Recreation Center hosting IUPUI. The meet begins at 5 p.m.
