Rod Hunte

Rod Hunte was hired as an assistant coach for the Crusader swimming and diving program in August, 2009.

In his first season at Valpo, he helped the Crusaders set a new school record in the 200 medley relay as well as saw an individual mark set in the 100 backstroke.

Hunte also helped three Crusaders, one male and two females, earn spots on the Horizon League All-Academic Team honors, as well as four members of each team earn places on the Horizon League’s Academic Honor Rolls.

He was a swimmer at Fairmont State University from 2002-2006 where he was a three-time All-American in the 200 breaststroke. Hunte also was an All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference pick and team captain.

Hunte was the head coach of the Fairmont Aquatic Club in Fairmont, W. Va. during the summers of 2005 and 2006 and was an assistant coach on the Fairmont Area Swim Team from 2000-2007.  Most recently, Hunte did an internship at West Virginia University with the school’s strength and conditioning program.

Hunte earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairmont State in biology in 2007 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia in foreign languages in 2009.
