Valparaiso won its second straight Mid-Continent Conference match, defeating Western Illinois 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, Mich.

Monika Danko (Northfield, Ill./New Trier H.S.) picked up a 6-2, 7-5 victory for the Brown and Gold at second singles, while Christina Scala (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South H.S.) won 6-2, 6-3 at the third spot. Jill Dierberg (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South H.S.) won 7-5, 6-2 at fourth singles, and Patricia Arakaki (Campo Grande, Brazil/LaPorte H.S., Ind.) cruised 6-1, 6-2 at the fifth spot.

The doubles matches were not played because the match had been decided.

Valpo (4-6, 2-1 Mid-Con will close out action at the Oakland Cluster on Sunday morning when the Brown and Gold face the host Golden Grizzlies in a 9 a.m. CDT match.
