Valparaiso University graduate Jay Adams has been hired as the new head coach for the Crusaders’ women’s tennis team Valpo Director of Athletics Mark LaBarbera has announced.

Adams played at Valpo from 2001-2004 after transferring from Alabama State.  As a senior, he was honored by the Mid-Continent Conference as the league’s Athlete of the Week, and was a team captain during that same campaign.  He was a member of the Crusaders’ only Mid-Continent Conference championship team as well in 2002.

“I am really excited that I will be the new head coach and I hope I can bring more championships back to Valpo,” Adams said.  “I am looking forward to coaching at my alma mater.”

Adams returns to Valpo after serving as the head girls’ tennis coach at Boone Grove High School each of the past two seasons.  In addition, he has previous teaching experience as a tennis instructor at Franklin Fitness and Racquet Club where he worked from 1997-2004.

“We are really pleased to have a member of the Valpo family return to lead our program,” LaBarbera said.  “We are looking forward to good things from Jay.”
