Three Commit to Valpo Women's Tennis Program

Valparaiso University women’s tennis coach Traci Young has announced the addition of three players that will be joining the Crusader program.  Abby Wright is transferring to Valpo and will join the team during the spring semester while Shea Hennessy and Kristin Zakiewicz have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Brown and Gold beginning in the fall.

Wright, a freshman transfer from Florida Atlantic, will arrive in January.  A nationally ranked player from PendletonHigh School in Bradenton, Fla., she trained at the Bollettieri Academy for six years.

“Abby is a welcome surprise to our program for the spring season,” Young said.  “Her strengths and experience will help us as a team in Horizon League play.”

Hennessey arrives at Valpo from Marist High School in Palos Park, Ill.  She is ranked among the top-180 in the Great Lakes Region by TennisRecruiting.net.

“Shea is a strong player from the Chicago area that has an aggressive game which will be an asset to our team for the 2010-2011 season,” Young added.

Zakiewicz, a native of Bristol, Ind., was an Honorable Mention All-State selection for Northridge High School in 2008.  She ranks among the top-25 in Indiana according to TennisRecruiting.net.

“Kristin will make a positive impact here at Valpo,” said Young.  “With her great technique and tournament experience, we are excited to have her join us in the fall.”
