Aubree Zdanovic (Appleton, Wis./East H.S.) posted her second collegiate victory on Wednesday afternoon for Valparaiso, but the Crusaders dropped a 4-2 decision to Chicago State at the Chicago State Tennis Facility in the Windy City.
Zdanovic was a 6-3, 6-2 victor over Mysta Townsell at fifth singles, tying the overall team score at two. However Chicago State (7-13) earned victories in the final two matches to win the contest. Valpo also won at fourth singles as Kristin Zakiewicz (Bristol, Ind./Northridge H.S.) picked up the victory as Peggy Moore defaulted.
The Cougars won the top three singles spots. Dian Mayasari was a 6-0, 6-0 victor over Brittany O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest H.S.) while Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno topped Katie Bilyeu (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo H.S.) 6-0, 6-3 at the second spot. Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) at third singles.
Chicago State also won both of the doubles contests to take the first point. The Tejoprayitno sisters were 8-2 victors over Bilyeu and Zakiewicz while Mayasari and Moore posted an 8-1 win over O’Reilly and York.
Valparaiso (0-13) will return to action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Rochester, Mich. to face Oakland. First serve is set for 12 p.m. CDT.
