The Crusaders closed out their opening trip of the 2013 spring season with a 7-0 loss at the hands of Western Michigan.  The host Broncos won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Valpo dropped the doubles point after the teams of Angelina Goheen (Aurora, Ill./Rosary H.S.)/Lauren Kammerer (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) and Kristin Zakiewicz (Bristol, Ind./Northridge H.S.)/Michele Fredlake (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph's H.S.) both lost 8-0.

In singles action, Hamel and Goheen were able to register a game in each set en route to the Western Michigan sweep.  Fredlake and Kammerer both dropped their matches 6-0, 6-0.  Number one player Zakiewicz fell 6-0, 6-1.

The Crusaders return to the court Saturday, January 26th.  They'll travel to Chicago to play Western Illinois at 9:00 am before facing the Northern Illinois Huskies in the afternoon at 3:30 pm.  The matches will be held at Homewood-Flossmoor Tennis Club.
