Crusaders Go Cold in Horizon League Warm-Up
Sophomore Kaitlyn Hamel won two games in her match at No. 2 singles Saturday against South Dakota.

The Valpo women's tennis team suffered their fourth consecutive 7-0 loss Saturday afternoon at the Courts of NWI.  The visiting South Dakota Coyotes swept all three doubles matches before doing the same in singles play.

Sophomore Megan Barthels was the only Crusader to win games in both sets when she dropped her match at No. 4 6-2, 6-3.

Angelina Goheen and Lauren Kammerer both were shutout 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Kaitlyn Hamel and Michele Fredlake both won two points in a set at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

Kristin Zakiewicz lost her match at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0 to Milica Pavlovic.

Valpo (1-11) won't have much time to mull over the loss.  The Crusaders head to Dayton Sunday afternoon for its Horzion League opener against Wright State.

The match is scheduled to start at 10:00 am CT.
