Michelle Mahoney Named New Valpo Women's Tennis Coach

Wednesday, December 06, 2006

Valparaiso University director of athletics Mark LaBarbera has announced that Michelle Mahoney has been named as the Crusaders' new head women's tennis coach.

Mahoney played collegiately at Siena College, where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Saints. She was a team captain from 1993-1995 and was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 1994. She finished her career playing both #1 singles and doubles for Siena.

?Michelle brings a great deal of energy to our tennis program," LaBarbera said. ?I am excited for her to take over and continue the success that our program has had in recent years."

Mahoney also spent time at Siena helping teach at the Saints' summer camps. In addition, she trained at the Bollettieri Tennis Academy during high school.

?I am very excited about the opportunity to coach," Mahoney said. ?I am looking forward to the upcoming spring season."
