Valparaiso University’s women’s tennis team will take to the courts five times during the months of September and October as head coach Traci Young has announced the Crusaders’ fall schedule.

The Brown and Gold will play in two tournaments while also hosting a pair of dual matches during the campaign.  In addition, the Crusaders will host their second annual Alumni Tournament.

The fall season opens Sept. 16-17 as Valpo travels to the River Forest Tournament in Illinois for the second straight season.  The Crusaders will then have 10 days off before opening the home slate Sept. 27, hosting Saint Joseph’s (Ind.) in a dual match at the Valpo Tennis Complex.

The second annual Alumni Tournament will take place Oct. 1 as the current Crusader squad will battle some Valpo players from the past in an exhibition event as part of Homecoming weekend.

“Last year we had a nice turnout for our first time having the event,” Young said.  “We had a great time and would love to see even more alumni come out and play with us this year.”

Valpo heads to Muncie, Ind. the weekend of Oct. 7-8 for the Ball State Tournament before closing out the fall slate Oct. 17 with a dual match against Robert Morris (Ill.) at the Valpo Tennis Complex. 

Young returns four players from last year’s squad and has added five new freshmen to the team for the upcoming season.
