Crusader Women Fall at Home

The Valparaiso women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Milwaukee Friday night at The Courts of NWI.

The Panthers recorded a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles and a 6-2 victory at No. 2 to go ahead 1-0.

Mardee Merar defeated Michele Fredlake (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph's) 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 to open singles play. UWM's Chelsea Bailey followed with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Kaitlyn Hamel (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain) at No. 1.

Christina Colarossi clinched Milwaukee's fifth victory of the season at No. 5 thanks to her 6-2, 6-2 over Megan Barthels (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central). Hayley Marshall subsequently registered a 6-1, 6-2 win against Kathleen Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) at No. 2.

Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind./Munster) fell 6-1, 6-1 in her match at No. 4 to Alysa Straub. Cary Milanes (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) took Aerielle Pendleton to a first-set tiebreaker before falling 7-6, 6-1 at No. 3.

Valpo will conclude this week's action with a Saturday morning match against Green Bay. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 am CT at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
