Valpo Drops 6-1 Decision to UTRGV

The Valpo women's tennis team fell 6-1 Thursday to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at the Courts of NWI.

Morgan Paras (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) was the winner for the Crusaders. She reigned victorious for the Brown and Gold at No. 6 singles with her 5-7, 7-6 (6), 10-6 victory over Tara Donaho. 

UTRGV clinched the doubles point thanks to victories at No. 3 and 2. Kat Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) and Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind./Munster) salvaged a 7-5 triumph at No. 1 against Reegan Greenwood/Dominique Esparza. 

Greenwood opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hebble at No. 1. Dominique Ibarra followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Randi Wind (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) at No. 4. Natacha Minc secured the win for UTRGV with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 result over Meg Modesto (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) at No. 3.

Esparza downed Heuer, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 2. Aleksovska got past Roach, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5 singles. Paras saved face for the Brown and Gold thanks to her 5-7, 7-6 (6), 10-6, triumph versus Donaho at No. 6. The win was her first of the spring.
