The Valpo women's tennis team closed out a strenuous five-match week with a 7-0 loss to visiting Wright State Sunday at The Courts of NWI.
WSU claimed 6-1 victories at each doubles flight.
Tori Turner opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 versus Randi Wind (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South). Aby Madrigal put the Raiders ahead 3-0 by virtue of her 6-1, 6-2 dismissal of Morgan Paras (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) at No. 6. Elaine Cloern clinched the match for Wright State following a 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Meg Modesto (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton).
Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind./Munster) got tripped up by Linsey Verstrepen in their match at No. 2 singles. Versterpen prevailed for a 6-2, 6-4 triumph. No. 5 singles saw Vanessa Madrigal top Halle Roach (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville). Kat Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) closed out the day on the wrong end of a 6-4, 6-4 tilt with Karoline Haller atop singles play.
The Brown and Gold will have six days to recover and prepare for Green Bay in Wisconsin. First serve from the Western Tennis & Fitness Club is slated for 4 pm CT next Saturday.
