The Valpo women's tennis fell 7-0 to visiting Youngstown State Saturday at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
Doubles play saw the Penguins win 6-1 at No. 2 doubles, 6-2 at No. 3, and 6-3 at No. 1.
YSU's Sofia Macias got past Randi Wind (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Halle Roach (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 5 to Nehel Sahni. Noelly Longi Nsimba secured the match for Youngstown State at No. 3 by virtue of her 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Meg Modesto (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton).
Ana Stroe followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory versus Erin Staal (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) at No. 6 singles. Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind./Munster) fell 6-1, 6-2 to Annina Brendel.
Sophomore Kat Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) took Dominika Lackova to a third-set tiebreaker, but Lackova eked out a 6-3, 3-6, 10-1 triumph at No. 1.
Valpo (2-19, 1-7 Horizon) will close out the regular season Sunday afternoon at home versus Cleveland State (13-8, 7-1 Horizon). First serve is slated for 3:00 pm CT.
