Tim Maluga

Head Coach

Tim Maluga was named as the head women’s tennis coach at Valparaiso University prior to the 1999-2000 season. He is a USPTR teaching professional, who has been teaching and coaching tennis for more than 15 years throughout the nation.

Maluga was named the Mid-Continent Conference Coach of the Year three straight seasons from 2004 through 2006 after the Crusaders finished with an 8-0 league record each year as well as capturing the Mid-Con regular season titles.  In 2005 and 2006 Maluga’s squad won the Mid-Con Tournament crown as well, advancing to the NCAA Tournament both years.  The appearances marked the first two in Crusader history for women’s tennis.

Maluga played varsity tennis at the University of Evansville, where he earned his B.S. degree in finance in 1984. He has since added a master's degree in mathematics from Purdue in 1989 and a degree in education, also from Purdue.

Since he began at Valpo, he has coached the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year in two straight seasons, 2001 and 2002, along with the Mid-Con Newcomer of the Year in 2001 and 2004. Maluga has also guided 18 All Mid-Continent Conference selections.

Outside of Valpo, Maluga also teaches college algebra, calculus, and statistics at area colleges.
