Amanda Meyer (Somerset, Wis./Somerset H.S.) set a new school record in the long jump as Valparaiso turned in several top performances at the Lewis Series Meet on Friday evening in Romeoville, Ill.

Meyer's leap of 16'7 ¾" bettered Fran Browden's 1999 mark by 2¾" to earn the redshirt-freshman an eighth place finish.

Holly Hagen (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) had a quality meet in the throws, turning in a pair of top-three finishes. In the weight throw, the sophomore turned in a toss of 47'0 ¼" to finish second, while placing third in the shot put with a heave of 37'7 ¼".

Also on the infield, Martha Josephson (Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes H.S.) won the high jump, clearing 5'2", while finishing seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 34'0 ½". Teammate Lindsay Haan (Westminster, Colo./Denver Lutheran H.S.) finished eighth in the triple jump, hopping 33'11 ½". In the pole vault, Lynnae Skogerboe (Fridley, Minn./Columbia Heights H.S.) cleared 9'6" to place fifth.

On the oval, Rachel Weide (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.) also finished in the top three twice, placing third in the 400m dash (1:03.15), while finishing runner-up in the 600m (1:45.58). In the mile, Jobeth Schmiesing (North Makato, Minn./Mankato West H.S.) finished second with a time of 5:27.12.

Valpo's distance squad swept the top three places in the 3,000m run. Rachel Stoehr (Antigo, Wis./Antigo H.S.) won the race in 11:03.92 by more than four seconds. Heidi Nathan (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford H.S.) outleaned Schmiesing by .01 seconds to finish second (11:08.20).

Valpo will return to the track on Saturday afternoon as several Crusaders will compete in the Canon Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
