Valparaiso Univesity sophomore Rachel Nelson (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit H.S.) has been name the Mid-Continent Conference women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Nelson turned in the Mid-Con's top time in the mile on Saturday afternoon at the Meyo Invitational held at Notre Dame. Her time, 5:03.27, is .59 seconds faster than the next-best time in the conference. She entered the meet ranked seventh on the Mid-Con's mile chart for the season.
