Valparaiso sophomore Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) has been named the Horizon League Female Field Athlete of the Week for her performance in the throws last weekend at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich.

Drozdowski recorded a new collegiate best in the shot put last Saturday, finishing sixth out of 52 competitors in the shot put with a toss of 42’10 ¼”.  The mark improved upon her third-best mark in Valpo history in the event and was within a foot of second place on the all-time charts.  The sophomore also earned 15^th place out of 63 athletes in the weight throw with an effort of 50’9 ½”.

Drozdowski currently ranks among the league’s top-four this season in both the shot put and weight throw, and along with the rest of her Crusader teammates will compete for the final time prior to the Horizon League Indoor Championships this Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
