The Valparaiso women’s track team recorded six top-five finishes at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. on Saturday.
Cleo Holt (Marietta, Ga./George Walton Comprehensive) took fourth in the 60-meter dash, finishing with a season-best time of 7.94 seconds. She also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 26.66 seconds. Kelly Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) took eighth (27.95) and Malea Buck (Davenport, Iowa/Central) was ninth (28.23).
Nicole Zehel (Wixom, Mich./Lutheran Westland) took fifth in the 600-meter run (1:41.99).
In the field events, Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) set a season-best in the high jump, clearing 5’3” to finish fourth.
Kelley Freeman (Valparaiso, Ind./Chesterton) and Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) finished fourth and sixth, respectively in the pole vault. Each cleared 10’6”.
Marissa Crafton (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) was fourth in the long jump (16’7”) and Brooke Hinstorff (Watertown, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) finished sixth (15’2 ¾”).
Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) was sixth in the shot put with a distance of 43’9 ¼”.
The Crusaders next take to the track Saturday, Feb. 23 for day one of the Horizon League Championships in Youngstown, Ohio.
