Crusaders finish competition at Duke Invitational and Chicagoland Championships
Kelley Freeman placed fourth in the pole vault at the Duke Invitational.

The Valparaiso women’s track team closed out competition at both the Chicagoland Championships in Romeoville, Ill. and the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. on Saturday.

At Duke, sophomore Kelley Freeman (Valparaiso, Ind./Chesterton) tied for fourth place in the pole vault. She cleared a season-best 11’ 1 ¾”.

At the Chicagoland Championships, sophomore Kelly Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) placed second in the 400-meter dash finishing with a season-best time of 56.07 seconds.

Freshman Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) finished second in the pole vault by clearing 10’ 6”.

Junior Erica Funk (Blue Mound, Ill../Meridian) took sixth in the discus throw with a mark of 130’ 10”.

Freshman Cleo Holt (Marietta, Ga./George Walton Comprehensive) placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a season best time of 27.52 seconds.

Junior Grace Shemwell (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) finished eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She finished with a time of 13:02.40.

Junior Marissa Crafton (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 35’ 6”.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, April 13 at the Eagle Invitational in Lisle, Ill.
