Bloy, Taylor Lead Crusaders at Puma Invitational

Elizabeth Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) and Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) led the Crusader women on Saturday at the Puma Invitational in Rensselaer, Ind. Bloy broke the tape twice, while Taylor set a new school record in the high jump.

Bloy took first-place in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:23.21; nearly four seconds faster than the runner-up. The freshman also dominated the field in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 4:54.93. Bloy’s time topped the runner-up by over ten seconds.

Taylor broke her own school record in the high jump, clearing 5’41/4” – good for first in the event.

Freshman Maisley Strange (Forest, Ind./Clinton Central) captured a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish-line in 14.37.

Brooke Hinstorff (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) placed fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 96’0”.

Claire Johnson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) took fifth in the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 5:10.23.

Freshman Hannah Schilling (Fraser, Mich./Lutheran North) finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:19.84.

In the discus throw, Erica Funk (Blue Mound, Ill./Meridian) and Megan Howdeshell (Bourbon, Ind./Triton Junior-Senior) finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Funk threw for 126’10”, while Howdeshell cleared 124’8”. Howdeshell also finished seventh in the hammer throw (121’7”).

Up next for the Crusaders are the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. The four day event begins on Wednesday, March 26th
