Crusaders Compete at Findlay Classic

Melanie Wilson (Saint Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) posted three top-five finishes to lead Valparaiso in competition at the Findlay Classic in Findlay, Ohio on Friday and Saturday.

Wilson’s best showing came in the triple jump, where she placed second with a leap of 35’6 ½”.  She also finished third in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line in 9.07 seconds, and came home fourth in the long jump with a mark of 16’3 ¼”.

Lakisha Lane (Topeka, Kan./Highland Park) also had a solid day on the track for the Crusaders, bringing home two top-ten placements.  Lane qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.24 seconds, eventually finishing in sixth place.  She followed with a seventh-place showing in the 400m dash, completing the race in 1:02.62.

Patricia Kloth (Medford, Wis./Medford Area) tallied two 11th-place finishes on the meet.  She qualified for the finals in the 60m dash with a time of 8.09 seconds and placed 11th in the final, while also crossing the line in 11th in the 200m dash in 27.05 seconds.  Lindsey Gilman (South Bend, Ind./Marian) also had an 11th-place showing in the 800m run, crossing the line in 2:32.24.

Valparaiso returns to the track in two weeks when the Crusaders travel to Greencastle, Ind. to take part in the DePauw Invitational on Saturday, February 9.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CST.
