Body Posts Four Top-Tens at Redbird Open
Amanda Body posted four top-ten finishes Saturday.

Senior Amanda Body registered top-ten finishes in all four of her events Saturday at the Redbird Open in Normal, Ill., including a razor-thin victory in the 200m dash, as the Valparaiso women’s track and field squad kicked off its indoor season.

Body crossed the line in the 200m dash in 26.58 seconds, which matched the same posted time as Northern Illinois’ Brittany Houghton.  But when the times were extended to more decimal places, Body took the victory by a mere four-thousandths of a second.

The senior recorded a third-place finish on the track as well in the 60m dash, running the final in 8.08 seconds.  On the infield, she posted a seventh-place showing in the triple jump (32’9 ¼”) and an eighth-place finish in the long jump (16’6”).

Freshman Natalie McCorriston registered a top-ten finish in her first collegiate meet, tallying a mark of 35’1 ¼” in the weight throw, good for ninth place.  McCorriston also finished 14th in the shot put with a toss of 33’2”.  Sophomore Amy Anderson also competed on Saturday, recording times of 10.62 seconds in the 60m hurdles and 29.52 seconds in the 200m dash.

Valparaiso returns to action after the holiday season, taking to the track at the Mike Lints Alumni Open in Allendale, Mich. on Friday, January 16th.  The meet is slated for a 3 p.m. CST start.
