Valpo Heads to Youngstown for Horizon League Championships
Head coach Ryan Moore joins the Valpo Coaches Show to discuss this weekends Horizon League Championships.

The Valparaiso women’s track and field team looks to finish their indoor season on a high note at the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend. Youngstown State hosts the two-day meet at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.

Senior jumps specialist Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) holds the top mark in the Horizon League in high jump with her 1.69m/5-6.5 mark set on Jan. 30 at the Findlay Open, tying her personal – and Crusader best – in the event. She out jumps the Horizon League by two and a quarter inches.

Junior pole vaulter Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) looks to add the indoor title to her mantle after winning the Horizon League Outdoor title last season. She holds the second best mark in the league this season at 3.50m/11-5.75, almost 10 inches better than her mark at League Outdoor Championships last year.

Sophomore Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) has two top-seven times in the Horizon League. The First-Team All-League Cross Country selection is sixth in the mile (5:07.56) and seventh in 3000 meter run (10:15.52).

Junior Megan Howdeshell (Bourbon, Ind./Triton Junior-Senior) holds the second best toss in the weight throw (16:03m/52-7.25) and the ninth best mark in the shot put (12.32m/40-5), respectively, this season.

Freshman Hannah Reynard (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon) and senior Kelli Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) hold the ninth and tenth fastest times in the 400m, respectively. Reynard ran a 59.19 at the IPFW Duals while Wosick is coming off a season best time of 59.34 at the Orange and Blue Open this past weekend.
