Valpo cross country and track & field graduated senior Katherine Germann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) earned elite recognition Thursday for her prowess in the classroom and in competition during her career in the Brown and Gold, as she was named a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American. She is the 34th Academic All-American in Valpo Athletics history.
For the second consecutive season, Valparaiso University women’s cross country and track & field runner Katherine Germann (Cincinnati, Ohio / Finneytown) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team for her academic and athletic excellence.
The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams and head coach Ryan Moore have announced the signings of five new throwers for the 2020-21 season. The women’s team gained four throwers — Mackenzie Patten (Highland, Mich./ Milford), Lena Luebbering (Heyworth, Ill./ Heyworth), Victoria Gerhardt (Westville, Ind./ Chesterton) and Juel Wiseman (South Bend, Ind./ South Bend Riley). The men’s team also added a thrower in Jeremiah Johnson (Zion, Ill./ Benton).

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams opened the 2019-20 season Friday at Notre Dame’s Blue & Gold Invitational. Sierra Fischer (Brookfield, Wis./ Brookfield) started the campaign off on the right foot, nearing the program record for the 400-meter dash. Fellow senior Bryce Otterbach (Mendota, Ill./ Mendota Township) also enjoyed a successful start to the season, recording two PRs.
