The Valparaiso University men’s track & field team closed out the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships with 31 points as a team, the program’s first time eclipsing 30 points at a conference championship – indoor or outdoor – since joining the Missouri Valley Conference. The event wrapped up on Sunday at Indiana State’s Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Valparaiso University men’s track & field team piled up additional points at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships thanks to the jumps of sophomore Micah Mullings (Minesing, Ontario, Canada / Barrie North) on Saturday at Indiana State’s Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Ind. He scored in both the long jump and high jump.
A podium finish by junior Ethan Litavecz (Highland, Ind. / Highland) in the men’s javelin led the way for the Valparaiso University track & field team on Friday’s opening day of the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Indiana State at Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Ind. Litavecz earned Outdoor All-MVC honors and was one of three point-scorers for the Beacons on the opening day of action. In addition, a pair of distance runners shattered program records on Friday.
The Valparaiso University track & field team will look to continue the program’s forward trajectory as the Beacons compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, which will be hosted by Indiana State this Friday through Sunday May 10-12 at Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Valparaiso University Alumni Association (VUAA) will recognize a trio of Valpo student-athletes among their recipients of 2024 VUAA Distinguished Student Awards, which will be presented at a special luncheon on May 10.
Valpo Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Vincent Walker joined Brandon Vickrey for this edition of Valpo Athletics Weekly, presented by Lakeshore Bone & Joint. They discuss numerous athletes including Evan Walda, Micah Mullings, Tori Gerhardt, Ethan Litavecz, Tim Whitelaw and more as the squad gears up for the MVC Outdoor Championships.
The Valparaiso University track & field team competed at Indiana State’s Sycamore Open on Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind., closing out the regular season at the same location where the Beacons will compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships in two weeks.
It was a busy weekend of activity for Valparaiso University track & field athletes, as the Beacons had representation in the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and the Gibson Invitational, hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Valparaiso University track & field team competed at Western Michigan’s Jack Shaw Invitational this weekend in Kalamazoo, Mich. One-two finishes in both the men’s discus and men’s javelin were among the highlights for the Beacons.
