"An outstanding two-sport athlete at VU, Ken Schreiber currently is a national legend as LaPorte (Ind.) High School's baseball coach.

Schreiber has received the National High School Baseball Coach of the Year award two times. His LaPorte teams have captured numerous state titles, and he is one of the all-time winning high school coaches in the nation.

As a collegiate baseball player, Schreiber was a three-time all-conference outfielder, batting well over .300 two seasons. As a football player, he earned All-ICC honors in 1956. Schreiber ranks seventh on VU's all-time rushing list (1,800 yards) and stands eighth in scoring (129 points).

Schreiber has been inducted into five halls of fame, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Indiana's Baseball Hall of Fame.
