Kim Smith Named Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance

Valparaiso University Director of Athletics Mark LaBarbera has announced that Kim Smith has been named the Crusaders’ new Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance.

“It is wonderful to have a national search result in the hiring of a member of the Valpo family,” LaBarbera said.  “Kim brings great experience and a love for Valpo to athletics.”

Smith returns to her alma mater after spending three years as the Assistant Director of Compliance at Old Dominion University in Virginia.  At Valpo she will work directly with the NCAA and Horizon League on eligibility, NCAA reporting, and financial aid, as well as rules knowledge and education.  She will also be responsible for monitoring the athletics programs.

Prior to Old Dominion, Smith was the Assistant to the Director of Compliance for one year at the University of Evansville.

A 2001 graduate of Valparaiso with a degree in sports management, Smith earned her master’s degree from Evansville in public service administration.
