Snyder Belts Two Homers, But Valpo Falls To Indiana State

Terre Haute, Ind. - Eric Snyder hit two home runs and drove in three runs, but Valpo lost to Indiana State 13-5. Sean Peickert and Marc Boggio had two hits each for the Crusaders (8-19-1).

The Sycamores (24-8) led 13-1 after scoring six runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth. Valpo tallied four in the eighth, two coming on Snyder's two-run blast. Snyder, who finished with three hits, also hit a solo shot in the third.

Indiana State, which finished with 17 hits, was led by Chris Hall, who went 5-for-5 and had four RBIs. He hammered a three-run homer in the fifth. Kevin Egli had three hits and three RBIs for the Sycamores.

Valpo pitchers recorded 10 strikeouts. Peickert (1-4) started on the mound for the Crusaders, allowing eight runs and 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings. He fanned four and walked one.

Travis Soppe (4-2) earned the victory, allowing one run and six hits, while striking out eight and walking one in 5 innings.

Valpo opens Mid-Continent Conference action on Saturday by hosting Oral Roberts in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
