Valpo's Arensdorff, Perri Selected First Team All-Mid-Con; Knobel Named To Second Team

Valparaiso University baseball players Mike Arensdorff and Kevin Perri were selected First Team All-Mid-Continent Conference, and Adam Knobel was named Second Team All-Mid-Con in a vote by the league's head coaches. All three are first-time all-conference honors.

Arensdorff, a sophomore first baseman from Eldridge, Iowa/North Scott, leads the Mid-Con in batting average (.382), hits (78), doubles (tied, 20) and putouts (390). He also ranks tied for fourth in RBIs (43), sixth in slugging percentage (.539), 10th in runs (38) and third in at bats (204). Arensdorff, who also hit four home runs, leads the Crusaders in each of the triple-crown categories (batting average, homers, RBIs).

Perri, a junior outfielder from South Bend, Ind./John Adams, is tied for the Mid-Con lead in triples (6) and stands sixth in batting average (.348), third in runs (53), fifth in stolen bases (tied, 18), eighth in hits (63) and 10th in doubles (tied, 12). Valpo's leftfielder, Perri also led the Mid-Con in reaching base via hit by pitch (14). He hit three home runs and had 30 RBIs.

Knobel, a senior from St. Charles, Ill./HS, led the Mid-Con with eight saves. Valpo's all-time saves leader with 14, Knobel also ranks first in the conference in appearances (26) and stands ninth in strikeouts (47). He finished with a 2-1 record and 1.95 ERA.
