Valpo to Play Fort Wayne Wizards in Exhibition Action on April 4

Valparaiso University's baseball team will travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. on April 4 to face the Fort Wayne Wizards, the class A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, at Memorial Stadium.

Crusaders head coach Tracy Woodson managed the Wizards in 2002 and will return to face his former team. Fort Wayne is managed this season by former Chicago Cub, Doug Dascenzo.

The game will begin at 5 p.m. CDT (6 p.m. EDT) with free admission for all fans. Parking will be $4 per car.

There is no set amount of innings to be played and will be based on the available pitchers on the two teams pitching staffs. Valpo will be using wood bats during the exhibition game.

Valparaiso will open their 2007 season on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader against Longwood in Farmville, Va. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m. CST.
