Valparaiso University’s Kevin Wild (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer H.S.) has picked up his second Horizon League Pitcher of the Week honor after tossing a complete game victory over UIC on Friday evening.

The Crusader right-hander scattered just seven hits and allowed two runs in Valpo’s 3-2 victory over the Flames.  Wild struck out five and did not walk a batter in his first complete game effort for the Brown and Gold.

Wild has allowed just 13 hits in his last 25 innings of work over three starts.  For the season he is 2-1 with a 3.40 ERA, which ranks second in the conference.  Opponents are batting .253 against him, fourth best in the league and he has struck out 35, which ranks third.

He previously earned Pitcher of the Week honors on March 26 after tossing a one-hitter against Milwaukee.

Wild and Valparaiso (10-19, 6-6 Horizon) will play five games this week beginning on Monday afternoon when the Crusaders host Grace at Emory G. Bauer Field.  The Brown and Gold entertains Western Michigan on Tuesday before heading to Youngstown State Friday through Sunday for a three-game conference series.
